When it comes to winter nail trends there’s a lot to unpack. The season sees us through cosy weekends, moody evenings, cold snaps, Christmas, New Years, fireworks and a fresh start in Jan, which means there’s a whole load of directions you could go in.
Of course there’s the classics: reds and sparkle (both of which are back for another year, but with a modern twist). But we’ve also seen some curveballs enter the arena, with airbrush aura nails, witchy manis and some offbeat shades you probably wouldn’t expect for winter.
We tapped up the top manicurists to get their take on what to watch out for once winter hits. So, here’s the 13 winter nail trends to know…
Mirror
Goodbye glazed pink nails, hello mirror nails in deep colours with a mega-watt shine. Celebrity nail artist, Angel My Linh, who counts Megan The Stallion and Rina Sawayama as clients predicts “mirror chrome powder over deeper toned colours,” will be big. It “adds a glazed effect to a classic autumn/winter nail,” she says. “I love pearl or mirror chrome over autumnal browns,” Angel explains. And luxury nail artist, Harriet Westmoreland, agrees. “For me, one of the biggest nail art trends will be chrome. I like to use Mirror, Iced or Pearl chrome on top from The Gelbottle Inc,” she says.
