2023 Billboard Awards: SZA & Drake Lead Hip-Hop, R&B Nominations

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards nominations are here. Leading for R&B and hip-hop is SZA with 17 nominations. Behind her is The Weeknd with 16 and Drake with 14. Lastly, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin have nine nods each.

The award show takes place on Sunday, Nov. 19. A time has not been yet announced.

SZA’s 17 nominations spawn from her critically acclaimed sophomore album SOS. She is up for 16 awards in 17 categories including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top 100 Artist. Her album SOS is a finalist for both the Top Billboard 200 Album and Top R&B Album awards. “Kill Bill” is nominated for four awards. SOS was released in December 2022.

Drake has 14 nominations this year, including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and Top Hot 100 Artist. He’s up for the Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Rap Album for his collab album Her Loss with 21 Savage. His other 2022 album Honestly, Nevermind which was released in June 2022, is also up for Top R&B Album and Top Dance/Electronic Album. He currently is the most-awarded Billboard artist with 34 wins. Drake is also the top artist for the most wins in one night with 13. He accomplished that feat in 2017.

Taylor Swift is up for the most awards of the night with 20. She is currently the most decorated female BBMAs artist of all time with 29 wins.
