Damon Dash, one of Hip Hop’s biggest names, has landed in the scenic city for the first time to celebrate 50 years of Hip Hop.
He was the moderator at the Hip Hop Summit where he shared what it takes to dominate in business.
“I want to make sure creators understand what they are worth and what they can do,” Dash said.
He’s one of Hip Hop’s legendary moguls.
He’s an American record label executive who co-founded ‘Roc-a-Fella’ and clothing line Roc-A-Wear alongside rapper Jay-Z.
He is also a movie producer and actor. His journey a testament to hard work and dedication.
“I’ve always just visualized me being the best and then actually being the best, and it worked for me my whole life,” he said.
The Harlem native is inspiring other by turning his hustler’s passion into a lucrative business.
“It’s not about being a player in the game. It’s about being the owner of a team,” he said.
Dash is now the owner of a new team, media company, ‘America Nu Network.’
“I’m just really into my dreams. I believe in my dreams. If I can visualize something, that means I can do it, and I don’t dream cheaply because dreams don’t cost a dollar.”
The music industry is constantly changing and because of artificial intelligence he says it’s more important than ever to find your niche.
“You have to figure out what people can’t emulate with A.I., and also you have to know what A.I. can do so you not paying people who use A.I. to do it,” Dash said.
So, no matter what you are passionate about, he says.
“Understand what your dream is and make that what you do for a living, something you would do for free. Make that what you do for a living. And do it so well that it doesn’t feel like work.”
