Folks will gamble on most anything. So for the NFL Draft, which starts tonight, you can wager on such topics as dogs, crying, hugging and smiling. And don’t forget nail polish.
These prop bets are courtesy of BetOnline.com Sportsbook. They cover even the tiniest of details. So let’s get started.
Which traditional curmudgeon smiles first at NFL Draft?
Flip on tonight’s NFL Draft coverage and you can hear analysis from two legendary, but unemployed coaches. Nick Saban, who retired from Alabama at the end of the 2023 season, will be on hand, as will Bill Belichick. Saban doesn’t plan on a return to the sidelines. But Belichick, who parted ways with the Patriots earlier this year, does want to coach again.
Neither coach is a warm and fuzzy sort. However, in a crazy moment, maybe one will smile. Who grins first?
Nick Saban: -150
Bill Belichick: +110
Caleb Williams love his nail art
Caleb Williams, the likely No. 1 pick of tonight’s NFL Draft, has yet to reveal what he’ll be wearing for the festivities. So we don’t know what kind of nail art he’ll sport. Williams started painting his nails back in high school. He usually only did so for game day. But we’re thinking draft night also qualifies.
Here are the odds for the colors.
Black: +150
Orange: +200
White: +500
Pink: +600
Blue: +700
Green: +1000
And speaking of Williams, if he is the top pick of the NFL Draft, you can also bet on who he’ll hug first back in the green room. Roger Goodell calls his name … He hugs (or if it’s someone else)
Mother: +125
Dad: +150
Girlfriend: +600
Agent: +1000
Wait, there’s another prop bet. Will Williams cry?
Yes: +700
No: -2000
But what about the pets? They go to NFL Draft parties, too
Some of the best scenes of the NFL Draft are the live, unscripted ones. ESPN has camera crews stationed at several homes across the country for tonight’s action. We’ll see the player’s parents and the rest of his family. The girlfriend will be somewhere on the couch.
And there will be furry family members. The over/under on dogs shown on camera is 2. For cats, the o/u is 1. Dogs rule.
Does Jim Harbaugh keep it maize and blue, even in LA?
Jim Harbaugh, who won an NCAA championship for Michigan back in January, now is in charge of the Chargers. He makes his NFL Draft debut wearing Chargers gear tonight.
Does he select a Wolverine? Odds say:
Yes: +150
No: -200
There is crazy buzz that suggests Harbaugh drafts his old quarterback, J.J. McCarthy. The team selects at No. 5. But maybe the Chargers trade down. The team also needs a running back and wide receiver. Maybe the best guess for a Wolverines-to-Chargers selection is running back Blake Corum in the later rounds.
Meanwhile, there could be as many as 18 Michigan players selected in this year’s NFL Draft. There’s going to be a ton of Hail! Hail! to Michigan over the next three days.
Does the Georgia-to-Philly pipeline keep flowing
The Eagles love the Bulldogs. Need evidence? Philadelphia drafted three Georgia players in last year’s draft. Two of them were in the first round — defensive tackle Jalen Carter and edge rusher Nolan Smith. Philly added DB Kelee Ringo in the third round.
The year before, the Eagles drafted two Bulldogs — defensive tackle Jordan Davis and linebacker Nakobe Dean. Overall, Philadelphia has picked 26 Georgia players in its history. That’s the most drafted by any NFL team.
So, will the Eagles pick a Bulldog tonight?
Yes: -180
No: +140
It’s a draft family thing
So many NFL Draft prospects are second- or third-generation athletes. Or they have family members who played pro sports. So of course there will be family footage. What highlight package will ESPN show first?
Highlights of Luke Maye (brother of Drake Maye) playing basketball at North Carolina: +550
Highlights of Marvin Harrison Sr (father of Marvin Harrison Jr) playing in the NFL: -1000
