20th Annual Female Musicians Fighting Breast Cancer Benefit

For 20 years, Ida Goeckel, a local female bass player, and two time breast cancer survivor, has been organizing the annual Female Musicians Fighting Breast Cancer Benefit. During that time, countless musicians have stepped up, to help Ida’s organization raise awareness (and funds) for Roswell Park’s Resource Center, the go-to support and information center on the grounds of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. It should be noted that 100% of the proceeds from the concert benefit the Resource Center – an institution that has become such an integral part of Ida’s life, as well as countless others who have found solace amidst their own unpredictable life journeys.

Approximately 250,000 women will be diagnosed, and approximately 40,000 women die each year from breast cancer.

Each of the bands that plays at the benefit concert features a headlining female musician. All of the band members have come together to help battle breast cancer.

The 2023 roster looks like this:

  • First up will be Dee Adams & Friends, delighting you with Americana/Acoustic songs
  • They will be followed by an entertaining performance of Jazz featuring Jennifer May & Friends
  • The third collaborative group, Donna Rose & Friends, will feature all your soulful Blues/R&B favorites
  • The event will culminate with a rocking set of Rock music, featuring Sue Kincaid & Friends

The event – sanctioned by the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation and Team Roswell – will occur on Sunday October 29, 2023 at The Sportsmens Tavern – 326 Amherst St., Buffalo, N.Y. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. Music will be from 1:30-5:30.p.m.

Prizes generously donated by local merchants and individuals will be in a basket raffle throughout the show, and there will be a 50/50 split as well. Admission to witness all this talent under one roof is just $10.00 both pre-sale and at the door. There will be a cash bar and fine food served at the venue to enhance the experience.
