Bhopal: Ratibad police on Thursday arrested a five-member burglary gang involved in multiple thefts. During interrogation, the accused confessed to committing nearly a dozen burglaries. The police recovered gold and silver jewellery, vehicles, and other valuables worth around Rs 45 lakh from their possession.
Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that incidents of burglary involving valuables worth lakhs of rupees, including jewellery, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers, were reported in areas such as Ratibad, TT Nagar, Kamla Nagar, Mandideep, Bag Sewania, Piplani, and Katara Hills.Multiple police teams from Ratibad and surrounding police stations were formed to nab the culprits. The teams inspected crime scenes, gathered information on criminals recently released from jail, and reviewed footage from approximately 250 CCTV cameras in the area to establish a route map of the suspects. It was revealed that a group of five friends conducted recce in various parts of the city before committing the crimes. Following this information, police successfully arrested all five members of the gang.
Commissioner Mishra said that the arrested gang members include Akram alias Shakeel, a resident of Kamla Nagar, Shoaib alias Rehan from Board Colony, Zahid Khan from Peelikhedi Rajgarh, Amir Heera from Gandhi Nagar, and Shahrukh Khan from Gandhi Nagar. The police seized gold and silver jewellery, a car, a scooter, a bike, LED TVs, worth around Rs 45 lakhs.
To capture the accused, six teams were formed under the leadership of Ratibad SHO Rasbihari Sharma, SI OP Raghuvanshi, SHO Kamla Nagar Nirupama Pandey, and SI Afsaar Khan. Additionally, intelligence and technical teams were also set up. Over two dozen police officers and personnel worked together to crack the case and bust the gang, said the commissioner.
