Christmas is the busiest time of the year for retail with floods of shoppers scrambling around stores to get their gifts.
Online retailers are also looking to get a piece of the action this year with some launching their first ever brick-and-mortar space during the golden quarter.
Retail Gazette takes a look at 6 online retailers taking a step into the physical world this Christmas by opening pop-up shops.
Asos
Asos unveiled its first brick-and-mortar store last week to coincide with Black Friday weekend rush.
The online fashion retailer promised “to take immersive shopping to the next level” with its four-storey pop-up selling a curated edit of its autumn/winter 2023 collections.
It’s the first of in a series of pop-ups from Asos as it looks to win back shoppers under its turnaround plan.
Ebay
Looking to enjoy luxury on a budget this Christmas? Ebay has taken over the HOFA Gallery in London’s Mayfair for a festive pre-loved luxury pop-up.
Running from 30 November to 2 December, ‘Taste of Luxury’ will showcase a collection of rare, in-demand and timeless secondhand luxury handbags, jewellery and watches.
Visitors will be able to try-on and secure some of the most sought-after products from brands including Chanel, Van Cleef & Arpels and Rolex.
Glossier
Glossier has arrived at 173 Regent Street for a two-month long pop-up to celebrate the brand’s signature scent, Glossier You.
The cult beauty brand is inviting visitors into an immersive space that features an ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) room and an Alice in Wonderland-esque space to experience the perfume through all five senses.
Guests will also be able to buy the perfume and exclusive Glossier You-inspired accessories at the pop up, which runs until January 13.
LookFantastic
THG-owned LookFantastic opened the doors to its first-ever festive pop-up this week as it looks to provide the “ultimate destination for beauty enthusiasts this Christmas”.
Running until December 3, House of Beauty at 189 Piccadilly Townhouse invites visitors to interact with fan-favourite brands including Drunk Elephant, Jo Malone London and GHD.
Shoppers will also be able to enjoy a complimentary branded coffee at the LookFantastic Café and purchase beauty treats at the gift shop.
Depop
Joining Ebay in its quest to promote pre-loved shopping this Christmas, Depop has unveiled the first of its series of pop-ups in London’s Oxford Street.
The marketplace app has partnered with influencers to curate an edit of handpicked vintage and designer items for visitors to shop each weekend.
Starting from today, Depop will open its South Molton Street store before launching shops on Oxford Street on the 15th and 16th and 22nd to 24th of December.
Amazon
Amazon has also followed suit in celebrating pre-loved this Christmas.
The online retail giant has partnered with children’s charity Barnardo’s for its Second Chance store where shoppers can buy returned or refurbished products in-person for the first time.
Running until December 12, the space at London’s Brunswick Centre features deals on a range of returned products spanning categories including household appliances, books and games.
