MEMPHIS, Tenn. – People are willing to pay big bucks for bigger booties, and the Brazilian Butt Lift, or BBL, craze has led to advertisements across the Mid-South for bargain booty treatments that cost hundreds, not thousands, of dollars.
If you pay more for a butt-enhancement treatment from a plastic surgeon, you’ll likely have the procedure in an operating room at a medical building subject to certain rules and regulations. Other options may be cheaper and non-invasive, but are unregulated by medical professionals.
Monday morning on Good Morning Memphis, FOX13 speaks to a plastic surgeon and a woman without a medical background who both practice butt-enhancement procedures. Tune in to see if the unregulated options are safe and effective.
“When I first started, I got maybe one client a week,” Yolanda Johnson, better known as “The Lipo Lady,” told FOX13. “Now, I’m at maybe 18-20 in a week.”
You may have seen Johnson’s car advertising weight loss and booty pills driving around Memphis. She’s one of many people advertising body contouring, including liposuction, butt injections and booty pills, around the Mid-South, mostly through social media. Johnson doesn’t claim that her procedures match those done by plastic surgeons, but they can be much cheaper and non-invasive whereas surgery may leave someone with lengthy recovery time.
That means there’s no cutting, probing or working underneath the skin with Johnson’s procedures. But the tools she uses are different than what you might find in a doctor’s office and there’s less regulations on the procedures.
