Bengaluru: A 66-year-old burglar, who hid his booty beneath rocks in forests and slept in his cars, is arrested.
The accused — Narasimha Reddy, a resident of Nelamangala — was arrested on charges of stealing more than one kg of gold ornaments from three houses in Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, and Girinagar last month.
The police also seized two cars in which, Reddy lived and roamed around.Reddy earlier faced 49 cases of house break thefts and the number has gone up to 52. He has been committing burglaries since 2013.
According to police, they recovered one bundle of 500 grams of gold ornaments buried deep in the forests of Gudemaranahalli, near Nelamangala and Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu.
“A lone wolf, Reddy never trusted anyone and would go alone into the forests to bury the booty. Whenever he needed money, he would revisit the spot and take out a part of it. Mostly, he chose places beneath big rocks or boulders to bury the booty, and lived under the same rock or boulder for a couple of days,” an investigating officer said.
