Bow and Green Chrome Nails Tie Fastest-Growing Nail Art Designs: Spate

Nail art trends are ever evolving. From seasonal and holiday prints to the whimsy of the runway, there’s no limit to what consumers want to wear on their fingernails. Even “anti-fashion style” – AKA green chrome – is no exception.

Green chrome nails, popularized by British singer Charli XCX, known in the beauty world as the brat aesthetic, is making the green for color cosmetics brands. According to the analysts at Spate, the trend averages 2.3K monthly searches and has seen a +149.6% growth in searches compared to last year. The trend is clawing its way into spooky season.

Analysts say consumers are searching for bold options beyond traditional green chrome nails, exploring variants like French tips and green-and-purple chrome nails. Similar trends are also on the rise: chrome tip nails are growing quickly with a +59.8% year-over-year (YoY) increase, and blue chrome nails have seen a +104.9% YoY growth.

Bow Before the Bow

The bow trend was first introduced during New York Fashion Week 2023 and the trend continues its irresistible charm.

Currently, bow nails average 3.8K monthly searches and have seen a +174.4% growth in searches compared to last year per Spate. Bows have been trending thanks to the rise of adult women embracing girlhood: The coquette aesthetic saw a +98.9% growth compared to last year and the balletcore aesthetic saw a +3.4% growth. Whether opting for big-statement bows or more delicate ribbon-like designs, consumers seek nail inspiration through searches like “bow nail design” and “nail art with bows.” The trend is also having a ripple effect on TikTok: content views saw a +911.0% YoY growth compared to last year.
