Coming in hot alongside maroon and burgundy, this is a trend that has all the fire power of a red mani – but with an emphasis on autumnal hues. And, while all-over colour is a classic, it can be worn in a variety of ways. ‘Whether worn as a full mani or as cherry red French tips, this colour is bold yet refined,’ notes Angie. The trend also ties in with TikTok’s red nail theory, a topic which has been hotly debated on the platform. ‘Red nail theory suggests that red nails signal confidence, power, and a bit of allure, almost like wearing red lipstick,’ explains Sami Pelling, a nail expert at the Nail Mafia. ‘It’s based on the idea that red catches people’s attention and can be seen as a symbol of boldness and even romance.
‘From crimson to burgundy, red nails add a pop of vibrancy – and let’s be honest, they make you feel unstoppable,’ she continues. ‘Red nails are timeless, but we see a spike in popularity during autumn into winter because red tones complement the warm, rich colours we naturally start to wear in our outfits.’
