Diamond-encrusted watches and some of the world’s most expensive designer handbags are included in the 130 seized items to be auctioned off for the Criminal Assets Bureau before Christmas.
Wilson’s Auctions will hold the online sale of luxury items seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act, opening for bids on November 29 and closing on December 2.
Money from the sale will go back to the State.
The proceeds of crime seized include a Hermés Birkin 30 bag, called after singer and actress Jane Birkin, which usually sells for tens of thousands of euro, with one selling for £236,750 (€284,337) in 2018 featuring 18-karat white gold and diamond hardware.
The assets listed in Wilson’s auction catalogue include many other handbags, including a Hermès Constance 24, Saint Laurent Crystal Embellished Velvet Small Monogram Kate, Louis Vuitton Montsouris BB Backpack, Louis Vuitton Speedy 30, Louis Vuitton Carryall, Christian Louboutin Nappa Spikes Chain Wallet, Jimmy Choo Clemmie Clutch, Chanel Medallion Single Flap Shoulder Bag, and a Chanel Mini Rectangle Bag.
Exclusive watches in the online event include Rolex Submariners, Rolex Daytonas, Rolex Datejusts, Rolex Day-Dates, and a Breitling Starliner.
Diamond rings and gold jewellery, including a Hermés bracelet, will also be up for auction.
A Chinchilla fur coat, Gucci and Louis Vuitton belts, a Louis Vuitton passport cover and collectable, out-of-circulation bank notes are also for sale.
Even expensive La Prairie ‘White Caviar’ skincare is up for auction. Christian Louboutin shoes, with their iconic red soles and eye-watering price tags, are for sale in various heel heights and sizes.
Other shoes by Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Valentino Garavani are also available.
The timed online auction will open on general election day, Friday, November 29, at 1pm.
Registered bidders will be able to bid online before the auction closes at 1pm on December 2.
Bidding will be open to the public and will be online only.
“We are very pleased to be handling this auction for CAB again this year,” Wilsons Auctions’ director and auctioneer Ricky Wilson said.
“Wilsons Auctions is well known for managing seized goods. All proceeds generated from this auction will be directly reinvested into the State.
“We conducted a successful luxury auction for CAB in the run-up to Christmas last year which was extremely popular and served as an ideal opportunity for bidders to purchase Christmas gifts,” he said.
