Resale platform Sellier is launching a festive treasure hunt for charity throughout December, which will see luxury handbags – including the iconic Hermès ‘Birkin’ and Chanel Classic ‘Flap’ – secretly dropped into selected London charity shops.
Not only will it bring coveted designer pieces into reach at up to 70% off retail prices, but it will also drive footfall to charity shops – supporting vital causes during challenging economic times when donations are so important.
Sellier will be teasing the secret drop locations on its socials, including via TikTok and Instagram, with the first hunt kicking off on 3 December.
The retailer is on a mission this year to raise awareness around the importance of local charity shops, as well as the wider message of buying second-hand at Christmas.
Fans of designer brands including Dior and Louis Vuitton could also be in for a treat should they get lucky and find a bag at a fraction of the usual resale cost.
Sellier is fast gaining popularity as the go-to place for second-hand luxury handbags and has been partnering with Flannels with pop-ups in selected stores since 2023, initially in the luxury retailer’s Glasgow and Liverpool stores – both of which have since been made permanent fixtures.
As part of its ongoing partnership with Flannels, an additional permanent Sellier space was introduced in the retailer’s store in Belfast in June 2024, and then another at Flannels in the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield in September, once again indicating there has been a “significant increase in regional interest for luxury brands as well as a shift in customer behaviour”.
