JAKARTA – Creativity in natural art is growing, one of which is thanks to Lisa Kim, a beauty expert from Melbourne, Australia. So far, Lisa is known for her unique and amazing work.
In fact, he is willing to spend up to 14 hours completing a set of nails with a complicated 3D design. Unmitigated, the cost for a set of nails made could reach USD 1800 or IDR 29 million.
This 27-year-old woman began painting nails in 2022. Initially, she wore plain colors. However, Lisa immediately realized that to get attention to her work, she needed to think out of bounds. Lisa began to create extraordinary designs such as the theme of tea parties, ocean-themed designs, and the theme ‘Wicked’.
Lisa can spend between two and 14 hours making each design complicated, which is usually created spontaneously. His client pays between USD 110 – USD 140 (around IDR 1.7 million to IDR 2.2 million) per hour for his work.
“When I first started making nails, I knew I wanted to be known in Melbourne as the one who made the design crazy. It took a lot of effort to get to this point. Luckily, I have clients who believe in me,” said Lisa, quoted by VOI from the NY Post page on Monday, January 13, 2025.
“Initially, I only made simple designs like most people. However, I realized that to be different, I had to think out of bounds with my design,” he continued.
Lisa started her business three years ago after quitting her job as a table game dealer at a casino. He took a nail art course and left his job without having a single client.
“I don’t like simple or ordinary things, I like surprising people. I started after Covid-19. When Melbourne experienced a big lockdown, I started to focus on studying nail art,” he said.
Lisa admitted that she had never practiced her design before, but immediately tried it for the first time with a client. He usually asks clients about the colors or themes he wants, but is often given full freedom to work.
“Most of the designs you see in my clients are the first time I’ve done it. I did it spontaneously. On average, my meeting promise lasted about two and a half hours,” he explained.
“My longest meeting agreement took 14 hours. It was the ocean theme with the effect of a lava light, each finger had a different marine animal,” he continued.
Lisa admitted that she got a lot of design inspiration from watching Alexander McQueen’s fashion show.
“I took a lot of designs from the runway fashion collection, especially Alexander McQueen. His old fashion show was very dark and Edgy, his works were telling stories, and I tried to do the same through nail art. The art of nails is my creative escape, it makes my mind calm,” he added.
On average, Lisa only receives one to two clients per week.
“In a month, I can earn USD 8,000 to USD 9,000 (around Rp130 million to Rp146 million) from nail art, social media, and cooperation with brands. Most of my income comes from nail art and the class of nail art I teach.” he continued.
