5 WAYS TO CURATE A LUXURY HANDBAG COLLECTION WITHOUT OVER-SPENDING

Elevate your outfits without breaking the bank…

I’m going to preface this post by saying this is not about ‘it’ bags. I will even go as far as saying I really don’t like trending pieces – they encourage over-consumption and will inevitably gather dust in your wardrobe when they’re no longer in style. If, however, a luxury bag is launched that has serious staying power and the potential to be a forever piece, that is definitely worth the investment.

I was really late to the designer handbag set. I had no qualms spending my money on beautiful shoes but handbags were things I threw on the floor of the train or stuffed lid-less make-up and the odd banana into. It made no sense to spend hundreds of pounds on something I would inevitably ruin. But since being in my thirties I have developed a real appreciation for lovely things that will last and as a result, I look after the pieces in my wardrobe with the care and consideration their price point requires. This now includes a couple of luxury handbags that I cherish and, more importantly, actually use on a regular basis. I don’t believe in keeping things for ‘best’, I think it’s a waste of money and fashion should be enjoyed, whether it’s running errands or going to the ballet.

Ever since I streamlined my wardrobe to focus on a more quiet luxury aesthetic, I have realised the importance of statement accessories and, in particular, adding a beautiful designer bag to my wardrobe. Not only does it add an element of interest to an otherwise simple style, it also elevates the entire outfit to give it a luxury feel (even if I’m wearing high street!). With a higher price point, every luxury purchase needs serious consideration which is why I’ve outlined my top tips to make sure you get the most out of your luxury handbag collection.
