Fitness expert accuses influencer of ‘faking’ her booty to make sales

Social media, in particular TikTok, is a great place to get inspiration on a variety of different subjects, especially things like healthy eating, exercise, and fitness plans. The hashtag ‘20minuteworkout’ is linked to thousands of posts and has a whopping 8.9 billion total views. If you’ve ever watched one of these clips and pondered its credibility, you’re not alone, which is why one fitness expert has taken it upon himself to weed out the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to exercise routines.

Jackson Johnson, who goes by @b00tybyjacks on social media, is a qualified and award-winning personal trainer with over eight years of full-time coaching experience. In addition to sharing his own tips and advice, he also uses his vast knowledge to help people from getting duped by those who he believes have altered their videos in order to make money out of subscriptions.

In one of his most recent posts, Jackson assesses a video by Canadian influencer Scarlet Birkas, who goes by @fitbyscar on social media. While watching one of her routines to get a toned bum, he almost immediately spots an inconsistency in the clip.

Videoing himself watching her video, he says to his 415,600 followers: “Wait wait wait, did you see that at the start? The first video looks strange and the rest of the video does look a little bit strange as well.”

Zooming in on one section of Scarlet’s video he then claims: “Let’s have a look at this, if we zoom in here the bench and a squat rack behind her is moving with her waist and glutes. I think this is absolute lies, [I think this is] video shopping her body to make it look like she has bigger glutes and a smaller waist then she can make money off selling her glute program to you guys.

Getting visibly annoyed, he accuses her again of editing her body using tech. He said: “Females that don’t have any idea that she’s f***ing using fakery on her videos, look at that ready? You can see the bench and her glutes changing in the background let’s go for the next rep oh, that one’s so obvious ready? I’m gonna go back and forth the background is moving it’s a stationary item. You should be f***ing embarrassed with yourself you using these video shop apps to try to rip off followers.

“I will literally expose it whenever I see it, I’ve had enough of it it should be illegal to photoshop your videos and photos to sell programs, make money off it. It’s f***ing disgusting.”

People viewing Jackson’s video were shocked by the assessment with many praising him for speaking out. One person wrote: “It’s crazy because it’s a great workout plan and her physique is amazing…I don’t understand why she would edit herself.”

Another viewer added: “Thank you for your service. I would have never noticed this.” And a third person penned: “Thank you for your service. I would have never noticed this.” While another user moaned: “Damn I had this video saved in my workouts too.”
