Sherri Shepherd Isn’t A Fan Of Sexyy Red’s Lyrics: “Let Them Imagine Something”

Sherri Shepherd joined The Breakfast Club this week, where she spoke on a variety of topics including the upcoming second season of her talk show, dating, and surprisingly, Sexyy Red.

When asked about being taken to “pound town” in her dating life by hosts Charlamagne and DJ Envy, the media voice pretty much expressed her disdain for the St. Louis rapper’s homonymous song.

“Oh my God, I was like, ‘What are these girls talking about nowadays?‘” she said referring to the explicit lyrics in the song. “When did talking about your booty hole start being sexy to people? When did just getting money, and showing your booty hole to dudes become sexy?”

When asked if she would allow the “Skee-Yee” rapper on her show, Shepherd jokingly said, “No! Nooo, No!” noting that her own age may cause Red to be uncomfortable. “She gon’ be like, ‘This auntie, go on old lady.’”

Speaking to a simpler time in music when more was left to the wonder about, she added, “Me, I come from the school of let them imagine something. Don’t just come and show him every day.”

Shepherd also acknowledged that music has always had its “wild” moments through time, but there was balance. She named Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, Queen Pen, and Lauryn Hill as examples of women rappers who aren’t vulgar with their lyrics — but she feels that Hip-Hop could use more rappers like them.

Sexyy Red has found herself in headlines this week following her supportive comments about Donald Trump and a recent leaked video of her being intimate with a man.

On (Oct. 4), a NSFW clip was uploaded to Red‘s Instagram Story showing her engaging in sexual intercourse with an unknown man. The next morning, the 25-year-old claimed that she didn’t post the explicit content of herself.

“I’m so heartbroken anybody that kno me knows I wouldn’t do no goofy sh*t like that,” she wrote on X. She then disabled public replies to that specific post.

The sex tape leak follows the budding rapper declaring her support for the former President earlier this week. Red suggested that the disgraced reality star and politician get back into office because the country “needs” him.

“I like Trump,” she said while visiting Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast. “Yeah, they support him in the hood. At first I don’t think people was f**king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little sh*t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money. Aww baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks. Them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you.”

She continued, “I love Trump. He funny to me. I used to be watching him talking to people. He used to be calling people fat. He just bold. He funny. We need people like him.”

Although her comments made have been funny to some, others disagreed. One person wrote on X, “Disappointed to see this, she can’t be my fave new rapper no more. But she is right, them stimulus checks was kinda all it took for a lot of ppl to hop on the Trump train smh.”

Hot 97 and Apple Music’s Ebro Darden also debunked Red’s thoughts with, “Clearly some people don’t know how the stimulus checks worked, who’s money it actually was/is and how it go distributed… People believe anything.”

Ebro also felt that Sexyy Red’s leaked sex tape was “on brand” for her.
