GET TO KNOW: Emma Grace Boyd

AUBURN, Ala. – Another school year means another season of Auburn gymnastics! And as we get ready to kick off the 2024 season in January, it is time to get to know the 10 newcomers to the squad.  Next up is freshman Emma Grace Boyd!
 
Hometown: Windermere, Florida 
Club: Orlando Metro
Prior to Auburn: 2021 and 2023 Level 10 Development Program National Championship qualifier … State and regional champion on bars and beam in 2021 … Top five finishes on bars, beam and in the all-around at the 2023 State Championship.
 
Q: Why Auburn?
A: “I grew up loving Auburn and it has always been a big part of my life. As a little girl, wearing cheerleading uniforms to the football games to now thankfully getting to wear an Auburn leo, I knew this is where I belonged and the place that would always feel like home. The unconditional support, love, and kindness makes it a place like no other. I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else and am forever blessed to be a part of the Auburn Family!”
 
Q: What’s your major and why did you choose it?
A: “I chose biosystems engineering as my major because I have always found an interest in the environment. I want to be a part of the mission to sustain our resources and contribute to having a positive impact on the world!”
 
Q: What do you hope to do once you are done with school?
A: “I hope to utilize my Auburn education to find a job that I love and be able to make a positive impact on whatever path God takes me down after college! I would also love to do some traveling in my off time!”
 
Q: What’s your favorite thing about your hometown, what makes it unique?
A: “My favorite thing about my hometown, Windermere, Florida, is the charming lakeside town surrounded by big oak trees, dirt roads, and small shops along main street that give it that small town feel!”
 
Q: What does a typical day in your life at Auburn look like?
A: “Wake up, eat breakfast, go to class, grab a coffee, study, have lunch, go to practice, rehab and recovery, eat dinner at Wellness, and finish up schoolwork! I also love watching Gossip Girl every night to wind down.”
 
Q: What’s your favorite event and why?
A: “My favorite event is beam. I love being able to do challenging skills yet perform them gracefully. Balance beam exhibits a unique and personal aspect where I get to express myself through my gymnastics.”
 
Q: What are you most looking forward to here at Auburn?
A: “Being a part of the Auburn gymnastics team is a dream come true, so of course, competing in Neville Arena surrounded by the Auburn Family is what I’m most excited about here at Auburn!”
 
Q: How did you get involved in gymnastics?
A: “When I was little, I was always flipping around the house, walking in a handstand across the hallway, or doing cartwheels and back-handsprings in the yard. My parents put me in my first gymnastics class when I was 2 years old, and I’ve been in love with the sport ever since!”
 
Q: What is your pre-meet ritual?
A: “I like to eat a turkey and cheese sub from Subway before every competition!”
 
Q: What is the coolest thing you’ve done in the past year?
A: “Taking a trip to Hawaii and seeing all the beautiful scenery is the coolest thing I’ve done in the past year!’
 
Q: What is on the top of your bucket list?
A: “Visiting Greece is on the top of my bucket list!”
 
Q: What fashion trend do you hope never comes back?
A: “Shell necklaces.”
 
Q: If you were in a zombie apocalypse, what person on the team would you want with you?
A: “Sophia Greaves.”
