Shake, shake, shake your booty at upcoming Glenwood Springs Culinary Arts Fest fundraiser

Glenwood Springs Arts Council is about to boogie down.

The community nonprofit, which provides scholarships to youth across Garfield County including Rifle, is slated to host its 23rd annual Glenwood Springs Culinary Arts Fest, according to an Arts Council news release. Complete with samples from local restaurants, wine and spirit providers and dessert treats, the event takes place 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Hotel Colorado, 526 Pine St.

This year’s Arts Fest is themed Disco 70s.

Tickets are $45 in advance, $50 at the door for individuals; $80 in advance, $90 at the door for couples.

“In addition to a delicious evening of tastings the event features a stellar silent auction, DJ and a dance floor on which to show your disco style, a photo booth and prizes for the best ’70s attire!” the release states.

Amid the platform heels and everyone dancing the Hustle, the event aims to raise funds for its scholarship program. Arts Council scholarships offer up to $200 for Garfield County residents ages 5-18, its website states.

According to Glenwood Arts Council Rep. Paula Derevensky, the nonprofit has provided 18 scholarships to area youth over the years.

Derevensky said she is still deciding on what 70s attire she plans to wear to the event, which typically attracts between 175-250 people over a three-hour span.

“It’ll be Disco Fever, I promise,” she told the Post Independent with a laugh. “It may not look like it, but it will.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the door. Advance tickets are available at some savings at glenwoodarts.org, the release states.

“So get out your best Disco Fever attire, grab your favorite dance partner and join the tasting fun,” the release states.

While there, visitors can also become a member of the Glenwood Springs Arts Council and “help increase art programs for everyone in our community,” the release states. For additional details contact Laurie Chase at 970-379-3559.
