Major Theft Task Force Arrest Involving Luxury Handbags

CALIFORNIA—On Tuesday, November 14, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that detectives from the Commercial Crimes Division, Major Theft Task Force (MTTF), identified a luxury handbag “fence” that was being operated by Karla Sunceri, 51, of Mission Hills.

Authorities indicated on November 1, around 6 a.m., MTTF conducted a search warrant of Sunceri’s home in the 15700 block of McKeever Street in Granada Hills. The search revealed she was in possession of over 50 luxury stolen purses, which were seized with a large sum of money. Most of the stolen purses were taken in residential burglaries throughout southern California.

Sunceri was arrested for 496 of the Penal Code, Receiving Stolen Property. She was booked at Van Nuys Jail, Booking No. 6703606, and was released with Zero Bail.

Commercial Crimes Division, MTTF is attempting to locate the owners of the purses and the investigation is still ongoing.
