As 2024 approaches—a year certain to provide plenty of surprises and disruption—it’s only natural to wonder what the future holds. J.P. Morgan has once again attempted to provide some direction for these frenetic times through its 18th-annual curation of books and experiences known as the NextList.

The New York City-based, multinational financial services firm released its i NextList2024, a rundown of 11 books and five experiences, plus an innovation spotlight, all inspired by evolving ideas and perspectives.

“2024 promises leaps and bounds on a scale never experienced before—all powered by innovative technology advances that will change the way we work, live and navigate the world,” says Darin Oduyoye, chief communications officer of J.P. Morgan Asset & Wealth Management.

“From five-star kitchens and high fashion runways to school classrooms and closer to home, the year ahead will spark new ways of connecting and communicating in ways none of us can begin to imagine today. NextList2024 offers a peek inside what’s to come.”

The selected books–which “span the gamut of genres and the four corners of the world,” according to Oduyoye–range from a gorgeous collection of next-level nature photography and a practical guide to restoring natural environments to inspirational first-person accounts from notable luminaries and globally respected thought leaders. Business owners can learn about the power of reinvention from an esteemed Wall Street Journal reporter, or a new approach to hospitality and customer service from the twentysomething dynamo who turned Eleven Madison Park into New York City’s highest-rated restaurant

“Adding a touch of the unexpected to the familiar is part of a new movement on Broadway in 2024,” says Oduyoye in reference to two of the selected experiences, the theatrical reboots of a pair of starry musicals, Merrily We Roll Along and The Wiz.

Among the other spotlighted experiences: a boundary-pushing, female-led California winery, the world’s first museum dedicated to robots and AI, and a dynamic new home for one of the U.K.’s most progressive artistic institutions.

Stella McCartney
is the recipient of this year’s innovation spotlight, which highlights a company focused on investing in the next generation of sustainable businesses through creativity and innovation.

“With sustainability as her driving force, Stella McCartney has shown the world that doing good and designing well are a powerful combination. Stella thinks deeply about the environment and sustainability in every aspect of her business, from product design and sourcing to manufacturing and marketing. She’s an example of what’s possible—and needed—today,” Oduyoye says.
