Fans of long nails are in for a treat come fall 2024, because the runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris just cemented press-on or gel nail extensions as a must-have for the season. But what’s painted on the nails is just as vital as the length. Polish shades of red, black, gold, and silver are still trending, as are more interesting takes on neutrals like deep navy and coffee. Ahead, check out the coolest nail looks straight from the runways that are sure to be everywhere come fall.
Classic Red
At Prabal Gurung, nail artist Gina Edwards used Kiss press-ons to achieve the elegant red nails.
Classic Red
At Retrofête, nail artist Miss Pop used Essie polish in four different shades (Bubbles Only, Model Clicks, Berry Naughty, and Not Red-y for Bed) to achieve an ombré effect.
Classic Red
At Dilara Findikoglu’s show in London, models wore a deep red polish that was nearly transparent, giving it a cool, jelly-like effect.
Going for Gold
There’s never a wrong time to wear gold nail polish, but we love how the nails at The Blonds showed how versatile the color can be when done in different finishes.
Going for Gold
Gold nails were also spotted backstage at Di Petsa during London fashion week.
Going for Gold
At Mithridate, nails were painted with a gold French tip, save for the pinky that was decorated with gold foil.
Playful Length
Masha Popova’s fall 2024 show saw nails done in this exaggerated claw length that is equal parts fun and dramatic.
Cool French
PatBO combined two of our favorite trends for fall: the cool-girl French manicure with a hint of edgy black.
Cool French
Nail artist Pattie Yankee (@pattieyankee) paid homage to the Pamella Roland collection’s inspiration—Belgium—with this understated nail look. It’s a French manicure that is only distinguished by a change in polish texture, not color.
Cool French
The nails seen backstage at Luar also covered two trends: a French manicure paired with a chocolate-brown tip, which is much cooler than just a basic eggshell.
Silver Screen
It couldn’t be easier to get the nails at Lapointe, as the models were wearing disco-silver press-ons by Chillhouse that you can shop right now.
Silver Screen
The silver nails are Chet Lo were more than a manicure—they were wearable art.

Extra-long champagne nails were spotted backstage at Kim Shui.
Neutral Upgrade
Put down the transparent pink polish. For fall 2024, neutral shades are getting an upgrade.
“Inspired by papercut dolls and Diana Ross’ iconic style, the inspiration behind this collection is a unique blend of creativity – big hair, long eyelashes, and unexpected opaque, neutral glossy nails. To complement the look, we wanted to keep the hands looking clean and buffed, playing with barely-there neutrals like CND’s Bare Chemise, Field Fox and Satin Pajamas,” nail artist JinSoon says in a statement.
Neutral Upgrade
Nail artist Bana Jarjour (@banicured) was behind the cool navy nails spotted at Tory Burch, using products by Essie. “While they initially appear black, a closer look reveals a subtle and sophisticated navy, paying homage to Tory Burch’s inspiration of architectural precision and bold silhouettes–each nail became a miniature work of high-shine art,” says the brand.
Neutral Upgrade
We love how interesting this muted mauve polish is, especially when done in both a matte and glossy texture.
Neutral Upgrade
Elegant, long nails done in natural shades of stone, coffee, and sand are also huge for fall 2024.
Neutral Upgrade
At Tiffany Brown, nails were done in a subtle shimmer micro French. ‘Tiffany’s collection is subtle with the right amount of gold shimmer. I like to think of this collection as subtle sensations,” says lead nail artist Tara Haye.
Well Embellished
Nail art has long been a staple at fashion week, but this season saw an anything-goes approach to nail accessories, with an emphasis on color and shine.

Three-dimensional white flowers are such a cool choice for a fall 2024 bride-to be.
Well Embellished
“Denim and velvet makes way for ’70 glams, inspired by iconic women Diana Ross and Dianne Carroll,” Edwards says of Sergio Hudson’s collection. “I envisioned an opulent nail with faceted stones with gold accents to reflect that era.”
Inky Black
At Thom Browne, nails were shaped into an elegant stiletto tip and painted the glossiest, inkiest black shade.
