M&S launches £15 ‘bum boosting’ pants for ‘Kim K effect’

WE’VE all heard of extra padded bras for that lift – but what about knickers with an in-built padding to make your booty appear more plump?

That’s right, according to Marks & Spencer, the popular high street retailer will be launching a new lingerie collection that will essentially make you look like Kim Kardashian.

The store – which is reportedly selling 45 bras every minute, according to Femail – will now be adding undies with built-in padding to give our butts a little of oomph.

Shoppers will be able to nab a pair as of May in 35 stores and online, where they will be priced at £15.

The design boasts two removable convex pads that sit at the top of the wearer’s booty to create a curvy silhouette.

”We’re doing for bums what we’ve done for boobs for years,” said Soozie Jenkinson, head of lingerie design at Marks & Spencer.

Although the store may be known for their high-quality bras, more and more fashionistas are demanding a lift with their backsides too, she explained.

”We’ve had requests from both UK and international customers,” said Soozie, who calls the pants the ”BBS” – bum-boosting shorts.

The ever-rising popularity of bigger butts is, in part, a result of the so-called Kim Kardashian effect.

Ever since her rise to fame in the early 2000s, the US reality TV star, 43, has shifted the female body ideal away from the petite figures of the noughties towards a more hourglass look.

But although plenty of women are willing to go to extreme lengths to get it via Brazilian Butt Lift – dubbed the most dangerous surgery in the world – the in-built padding knickers mean fashionistas won’t have to risk their lives for a curvy look.

In 2021 alone, close to a staggering 400k beauty lovers worldwide went under the knife for the Brazilian Butt Lift, also known as BBL.

Cheltenham 2024 racegoers including Georgia Toffolo raise the fashion stakes as they celebrate St Patrick’s Thursday

The procedure involves taking fat from elsewhere in the body and them pumping it back into the bottom.

According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery this is a whopping 20 per cent rise on 2017, despite the BBL costing more than £7.5k and having the highest mortality rate of any cosmetic surgery.

However, Marks & Spencer can’t really claim to be the pioneers of stocking the pant solution, as Kim K’s SKIMS already has similar items on the market – as does Spanx.

Soozie added: ”We’re going out more and it’s making us think about lingerie solutions to help us get dressed up again.

”Our underwear offering reflects not just changes in fashion and lifestyle but also in body shape.”

Heading to M&S in the upcoming days? There are plenty of bargain finds to keep your eyes peeled for, including a pair of £14 trousers with 8k glowing reviews.

Style lovers have also been raving about ‘’perfect’’ M&S dress that ‘’doesn’t show lumps and bumps‘’ – and it sells for £35.

Other gorgeous deals to hit the store include a gorgeous white waistcoat that fits like a glove, and it’s a must for the Spring season ahead.
