GREEN BAY − Big and small, businesses in the area are on the move, with some opening, expanding or relocating.
Construction is underway for a new Wells Fargo bank location, after the company decided to relocate from its current space on the west side. A new salon is opened in the Broadway district and a well-known barbershop continues to expand, now in the east side of Green Bay.
Plus, St. Norbert College will host a market featuring Black-owned businesses. Here’s the latest Streetwise roundup of business news.
Wells Fargo is relocating its west side location
Wells Fargo’s branch at 908 S. Fisk St. will close in November and will relocate to 1482 W. Mason St., according to Michael Slusark, media relations contact for the bank.
Slusark said via email that the new location offers higher visibility and is more convenient for customers. The new space is being remodeled and will open Nov. 20.
“Until that time, our customers can continue to visit us at 908 S. Fisk St.” he said.
The new location is a former branch of the Associated Bank. Midland Commercial Development purchased the property at the end of February for $1.1 million, public records show.
Barbershop and beauty salon expands in east Green Bay
Starz Barber & Beauty added a fourth location at 1697 Main St., which opened Aug. 1. The shop currently has one on the west side at 755 Mike McCarthy Way, another one in De Pere at St. Norbert College and one at UWGB.
Owner Chris Kimbrough said he added another location because his clientele continues to grow.
“This is a place where clients become family,” he said. “Little kids that I started cutting when they were young, now bring their kids to the shops to get services.”
Kimbrough also said the barbershop is hosting an event for kids called “All-Starz Youth Celebration” at noon Aug. 19 at Joannes Park. There will be food and games for up to 300 children.
“We’re also giving the key to the city to Natisha Hiedeman that day,” he said.
Hiedeman is a professional basketball player for the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun. She was born in Green Bay and graduated from Southwest High School.
All Starz Barber & Beauty locations are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

A new salon is opening next week in the Broadway District
River & Pine Salon opened earlier this month at 340 N. Broadway, Suite 180.
Jenna Zellner, owner of the salon, said in a news release that the Broadway District is growing and is a great place for her business.
“Our new location allows us stylists and our clients to be part of that community,” she said.
The salon offers haircuts for both men and women, hair dyeing and sells cosmetic products.
A grand opening and ribbon-cutting is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday.

St. Norbert College will host ‘The Market’ to mark National Black Business Month
St. Norbert College’s Mulva Family Library will host “The Market” a one-time event that will allow more than 40 Black-owned businesses, including food trucks, and entrepreneurs from northeast Wisconsin to sell their products.
The college said via a news release that this event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 26.
Jasmine Gordon, Mulva Library community engagement coordinator, said in the release that the event can have a significant impact on the economic and social well-being of the Black community, while promoting diversity and inclusion.
Gordon said students will be able to connect with Black business owners and entrepreneurs, which “helps them create lasting connections to the area.”
