General has announced his commitment to the University of Louisiana Monroe and their fittingly-named Warhawks.

He is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, and the son of former LSU receiver Abram Booty

“Only right that General Booty is a Warhawk,” added another.

“I was in Shreveport until I was 12 years old, and I have a lot of great memories and friends in Louisiana,” Booty told USA TODAY.

He said ULM coach Bryant Vincent was said to be a big factor behind the move.

“His vision for the program along with the staff and team he has put together was very impressive,” Booty added.

“Secondly, being close to where I grew up in Shreveport all my family will be able to come to the games and watch me play.

“Lastly, the history of quarterbacks in the program with guys like Stan Humphries and Doug Pederson who have come through there and the love for football in the community of Monroe.”

Booty spent two years with the Sooners after transferring from Tyler Junior College in 2022.

Sooners head coach Brent Venables took notice after he passed for 3,115 yards and 25 touchdowns in his lone junior college season.

“I loved the time I have got to spend at OU. The people make that a special place,” Booty said.

“I got to learn from Dillon Gabriel how to attack each game week and prepare.

“From coach Venables, I learned how important it is to establish culture and I will cherish my time I had with all my teammates.”

Booty played in two games in Oklahoma and has two years of eligibility remaining.

His unusual first name is said to come from his father’s fascination with the military.

And he has put his surname to good use last year.

Booty secured a money-spinning NIL deal with Rock ‘Em Socks to create a personal underwear line last year.

The rule change has allowed athletes like Olivia Dunne and Caitlin Clark to cash in.

Dunne is a social media sensation amassing over five million followers on Instagram.

While Clarke’s WNBA debut drew jaw-dropping numbers on Tuesday night.
