2024 BET Awards: Drake Gets Snubbed While Usher & SZA Win Big

The 2024 BET Awards saw several snubs and surprises, most notably Drake, who came with seven nominations and left with zero awards. This may not have been Drake’s year, losing a diss track battle with Kendrick Lamar, but it sets him up for a comeback story. Usher claimed Best Male R&B/Pop Artist for the fifth time, as well as receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. SZA won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist for the second year running, making her the only other female artist to do so besides Beyoncé’s six-year run. South African singer Tyla won Best International Act and Best New Artist, beating out Sexxy Red who had five nominations but won none. Nicki Minaj won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, which came as a surprise, as she hasn’t won the award in eight years.
