‘Absolute baddie’: Brave bridesmaid moves snake away from wedding guests

FLORENCE, Ariz. (Gray News) – A bridesmaid at a wedding in Arizona took matters into her own hands when a snake showed up as an uninvited guest.

In a viral TikTok video, the bridesmaid is seen carrying a snake by its tail away from wedding guests and into a grassy area outside the venue.

The caption over the video reads, “Weddings in Arizona.”

A second TikTok video shows the moment the bridesmaid captured the snake with her bare hands. Several guests watch in awe and shock as the woman carries the snake.

TikTok users in the comments commended her bravery.

“I knew the tossing of bouquet was outdated, but this is next level!” one person commented.

“An absolute baddie,” another wrote.

KSAZ spoke with the brave woman, identified as Erika Rodriguez, who credits her snake-handling abilities to watching Steve Irwin as a kid.

“As a kid, I was very tom boyish, so I was outside catching grasshoppers and toads and snakes and whatever I could,” Rodriguez told KSAZ. “Thank you, Steve Irwin.”

Rodriguez said she’s just over 5 feet tall, about the same as the snake’s length.

Fortunately, the snake was a harmless gopher snake, KSAZ reported.
