Jabalpur police have succeeded in apprehending accused involved in two loot incidents in Kotwali and Gwarighat areas and recovered stolen booty including two gold chains, a gold tops, a gold ring and stolen scooter from him. The arrested has been identified as Kamlesh Gupta (33), son of Ramanand Gupta, resident of Piyush Majesty Nirmal Road, Thane in Mumbai. Superintendent of Police, Tushar Kant Vidyarthi (IPS), while addressing a press conference, on Wednesday, informed that taking serious note on increasing numbers of loot incidents, two teams were constituted under the supervision of Additional SP (City), Priyanka Shukla (IPS) and Additional SP (City South), Sanjay Kumar Agrawal (IPS). Besides this, he had declared cash rewards of Rs 5,000 each for apprehending the accused of loot incidents.
Investigating the two loot cases with separate women reported in Kotwali and Gwarighat areas on July 25, 2023, police identified the same looter through CCTV footages involved in both the loot incidents. Continuing the investigation, police found the identity and location of accused. Jabalpur police established contact with Mumbai police and identified the accused as Kamlesh Gupta. A team was sent in Mumbai and the accused was apprehended with the help of Mumbai police.
Police have retrieved the looted booties include two gold chains, a gold tops, a gold ring and stolen Access scooter from him. In further investigation, police learnt that the accused is a habitual looter and already arrested by Mumbai police in different loot cases. Looter was arrested with active working of police team led by CSP, Kotwali, Prabhat Shukla, CSP, Cantt, Tushar Singh, SHO, Kotwali, Anil Kumar Gupta, SHO, Gwarighat, Bhumeshwari Chouhan comprised of Kotwali, SI, Anil Gaur, Constables, Lalji, SI, Umang Agrawal, Chhatrapal and Anmol Dubey.
