Kathleen Fowler, owner of local women’s fashion retail outlet Sam’s Shop, announced she is seeking a buyer to carry on the store’s nearly 47-year legacy in Taos. While no official date has been set, Fowler aims to exit her position near the end of December.
Resting on its spot on Bent Street since 1976, the Sam’s Shop of today is a deep labyrinth of contemporary and vintage women’s clothing that accentuates a subtle adobe structure built in the 1930s. On its surface, Sam’s Shop is a quiet, well-curated space, once part of a fashion micro-empire here in Taos that spanned three storefronts on Bent Street, each one curated by Fowler.
