The Air Jordan 1 High MM isn’t dethroning the silhouette’s standard version anytime soon. In fact, official product pages for the sneaker market the shoe as a “limited, elevated [iteration] of legendary sneakers.” As 2023 comes to a close, the Method of Make series brings a heritage-inspired color scheme to the women’s-exclusive.
At quick glance, the sneaker boasts DNA from the 1980s, but closer inspection reveals a number of fashion-forward details rooted in modern trends. Exaggerated tumbled leather panels throughout the upper double-down on the eye-catching aesthetic, bringing experimental propositions to the Air Jordan line. The unlined toe box works in-tandem with textile on the tongue and via underlays throughout the profiles to inject deconstructed comfort into the model. “Wings” insignias on the lateral ankle flap don their traditional branding, but tongue labels abandon Peter Moore’s original “Nike Air” messaging in favor of a blank makeup. Shades of “Sport Red” and “Dune Red” bring Chicago Bulls-glory to the modified Air Jordan 1, supplementing “Black” and “White” hits across the shoe. Underfoot, the upcoming pair features an “aged” midsole that harkens back to the design’s first iteration.
