Amanda Holden discussed a rather risqué wardrobe malfunction live on-air this morning, admitting her producers “closed their eyes” in despair when she said one particular word to describe the issue.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge was presenting Heart Breakfast with Jason King (JK) on September 24, when the hosts’ attention turned to the topic of accidental underwear exchanges.
JK revealed that his wife had mistakenly placed his young son’s pants in his drawer, believing they were his. Meanwhile, Heart FM listener Tracy texted the presenters to tell them a similar, but equally hilarious, story.
Tracy explained that she’d accidentally worn her 21-year-old daughter’s size six briefs and spent the day believing that she needed to go on a diet as they were cutting off her “circulation”. This prompted Amanda to tell her own underwear-themed story.
Amanda said: “There’s just nothing worse than a tight pair of pants – or too loose! I’ve had the other way, where I’ve put some knickers on and the gusset’s, sort of, gone.
“And you know when they’re a bit…they sort of are a bit to the side? And you’re like, this is not good.”

JK replied: “Did you see the expression on our two male producers’ faces to your right when you said ‘gusset’?”
Amanda said: “I know; they both closed their eyes like, ‘Hmmm; is that allowed before seven o’ clock?'”
It wouldn’t be the first time that Amanda had experienced a wardrobe mishap, however, as in 2019, a label from M&S was spotted on her Julien MacDonald dress.
In a more racy mishap in 2022, she mistakenly flashed her chest while filming an Instagram reel in a white dressing gown. She had been instructing viewers about her “go to product” before the accidental reveal.
In a 2023 incident, the 53-year-old suffered a similarly racy malfunction when a microphone fell down her dress during the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, with the item falling towards her bottom while she was walking.
However, Amanda took it in her stride and grabbed a second mic, amusingly saying: “Say no to crack! Literally, my mic pack has gone right down my bum. You’ll be hearing all kinds of interesting noises.”
