ALPENA — Alpena Civic Theatre President Julie Meyers recently presented the President’s Award for the year to Scott Edgar.
Edgar has been a longtime director, actor, sound and light booth technician, and more over the many years of his involvement with ACT.
At the annual potluck held in September, Meyers complimented Edgar on his involvement with the Civic and always being so helpful. Julie said the bonus for the Civic is that Debby Edgar, Scott’s wife, always volunteers alongside of him.
At the event, Meyers said she believes that everyone involved with putting on live theatre at ACT is deserving of the President’s award. She went on to talk about ACT members as family and how, just like at our regular jobs, we have “theatre wives and theatre husbands.” We work to put on a show and we argue, grumble and swear “never again!” But we always seem to come back together and do it all over again.
This year’s award was given to “theater husband” Edgar. Meyers said they have done a lot of shows together and somehow, through the grumbling and eyeball rolls, have always managed to be successful. And Scott’s real wife, Deb, is a bonus when working with Scott. In true husband fashion, he “volunteers” his wife to help.
Alpena Civic Theatre holds its meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month in the green room at 401 River Street. All are welcome to come and be a part of the ACT family.
