Armed robbers gag, blindfold women to loot booty worth Rs30lakh, cops nab 5 in nakabandi

Yavatmal: In a daylight robbery, armed dacoits stormed a grocery trader’s house in Darwha city and looted valuables worth lakhs after gagging two women in the house, and holding one at gunpoint, and the other with a knife. They then tied their hands and legs, blindfolded them, and made away with cash, gold, and silver. The incident took place around 1pm in the Bari Pura area. However, swift police action led to the arrest of the accused in Shembalpimpri area.
The victim, identified as Ganesh Vasantrao Kalbande, is a well-known grocery trader from Darwha. His shop, Baliram Punjaji Kalbande Kirana Store, is one of the oldest in the city. The robbers, who arrived in a Bolero SUV, barged into his house and immediately gagged the two women present. One woman was held at gunpoint, while the other had a knife to her throat. The robbers tied their hands and legs with ropes before blindfolding them. They then looted Rs4 lakh in cash, 25 tolas gold, and 2kg silver, amounting to a total loss of around Rs30-35 lakh, before fleeing in their vehicle.
The crime was discovered when Kalbande returned home for lunch from his shop and found the women tied up. As news of the incident spread, a crowd gathered at the scene. Local police, along with senior officers, rushed to investigate.
Police immediately set up roadblocks across the district and deployed multiple crime branch teams to track the suspects. The dacoits, sensing police presence, abandoned their vehicle near Shembalpimpri and attempted to flee through nearby fields. However, in a cinem-style chase covering 5km, the Khandala police managed to nab them.
The arrested accused have been identified as Ashraf Parvez Khan, Mahesh Ramprasad Pimparne, Adarsh Devi Singh Bidla, Kartik Ramesh Dulkheja, and Ganesh Sham Koturwar. All the accused are residents of Nanded. The police are still investigating and have yet to reveal the identities of two more suspects involved in the crime.
Khamdala police inspector Devidas Patil said, “Based on the messages we received, we took action immediately. Meanwhile, in Aamdari Ghat, the thieves rammed their vehicle into ours. We pursued them for about 5-6km through the forest, staged a strategic manoeuvre, and seized weapons from their possession.”
