High Gravity has released a special beer to help with a family’s expenses after a mother’s death from colorectal cancer. #Czechyourbooty is a Czech Pilsner on tap now at High Gravity’s Pippin’s Taproom, 6808 S Memorial Dr., Suite 144.
Heather Sams passed away from colorectal cancer in 2023. Leaving behind a daughter and two sons. She was a big part of Tulsa’s beer community.
“We made it in honor of Heather Sams to help promote Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. She passed away last year and whenever she would post something on social media, she would hashtag #checkyourbooty,” says Desiree Knott, co-owner of High Gravity Fermentations and Pippins Taproom. “So we went with that and changed it to C-Z-E-C-H Your Booty for the name of the beer.”
High Gravity will donate 10% of the proceeds from the sales to her GoFundMe account.
“It is a classic Czech Pils. So it has Saaz hops in it, which are nice and spicy. It’s very quaffable,” Knott says. “It has a good bitterness from the hops. A very classic German, Czech-style Pilsner is what we were going for here, and I think it fits the bill perfectly.”
March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Also known as colon cancer, according to the CDC it is the fourth deadliest cancer in the United States.
High Gravity wants to spotlight colorectal cancer and inspire more people to get checked starting at age 45.
The beer is now available on tap or in 16 ounce four-packs at Pippin’s Taproom.
