For these stars, it was a night to celebrate.
Some of the biggest names in music, movies, TV and sports were honored at the 2024 BET Awards in Los Angeles June 30. And among the big winners was Usher, who walked away with Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, and Tyla, who took home Best International Artist and Best New Artist. Heading into the ceremony (hosted by Taraji P. Henson), Drake was the most-nominated artist, picking up seven nods, including for Album of the Year, Best Collaboration, Video of the Year and Best Male Hip Hop Artist. Nicki Minaj followed right behind with the “Super Bass” artist receiving a nod for Album of the Year, Video of the Year and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist—plus three more nominations.
And in addition to performances by GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey and Victoria Monet, Usher also received a special honor. Celebrating 30 years of hits, the singer—who was nominated for four awards—was presented with the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award.
