ARCADIA, Fla. (TND) — The driver of the white pickup truck with green decals that say “Booty Patrol” has been found, but won’t face criminal charges for impersonating law enforcement.
Instead, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office in Florida announced that person got a ticket for displaying lights that are prohibited. Blue lights on vehicles are banned in Florida, except if they belong to emergency or correctional agencies.
The sheriff’s office had warned drivers to take a second look if they were being pulled over by someone in a pickup truck.
Now, it said it wanted to “raise awareness … about the suspicious vehicle” so “the public can avoid being duped by such individuals.”
The pickup truck was equipped with red and blue lights, and the sheriff’s office said the driver had been impersonating officers.
The truck also had the words “Booty Patrol” on its sides and back, with green decals. Green decals are common among local law enforcement agencies in Florida.
