Bow Wow is looking back on his relationship with Ciara.
In a new interview with Billboard, the 38-year-old rapper/actor reminisced on releasing his fourth album Wanted in 2005 with the hit single “Like You” featuring his then-girlfriend Ciara, 39.
The F9 star told the outlet Ciara “was on fire” at the time of releasing “Like You,” which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped both the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
“She was about to be certified triple-platinum on her first album, Goodies,” said Bow Wow, born Shad Moss. “It just made so much sense at that time in the moment of my life when we were together to record that song.”
He recalled, “I was the youngest, hottest cat in the game. She was the youngest, hottest female in the game and at that time we were dating.”
“It just made perfect sense for us to collaborate together on a Jermaine Dupri product,” added Bow Wow, referencing the song’s producer. “And boom, there you have it — No. 1 out the gate.”

The “Let Me Hold You” artist said dating another celebrity “wasn’t tricky” for him at the time. “It’s been done before,” he explained. “I think with us, it was the timing. It was effortless. It just made sense.”
As far as making the song with Ciara, Bow Wow said, “I don’t even think we were in the studio together. I think I just knocked my stuff out and she came to Southside [Studios] later and did her parts. I just knew it. It just made perfect sense.”
He added, “It was the perfect marriage for that record, and nobody else could have sung that hook and did that verse like how she delivered on that record.”

Both stars have since moved on. Bow Wow welcomed his first daughter, Shai, in 2011 with then-girlfriend Joie Chavis. He also has another daughter, Stone Gemariah, born in 2020, from a different relationship.
Ciara, on the other hand, shares daughter Sienna Princess, 7½, son Win Harrison, 4½, and daughter Amora Princess, 16 months, with husband Russell Wilson. She also has son Future Zahir, 10, from her previous relationship with rapper Future.
