Thanksgiving Art League Show and Sale
The Smith Island Art League will hold its members’ show and sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Bald Head Island Association Center, 111 Lighthouse Wynd on Bald Head Island. The show is open to the public with free admission. The Art League members will show a variety of styles and mediums such as ceramics, oil and watercolor paintings, cards, jewelry, fabric art, photography and more. ‘America 250 NC: It’s Not 1976 Again’
The North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport presents its “Third Tuesday” lecture series, “America 250 NC: It’s Not 1976 Again.” LeRae Umfleet of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources will speak about what the state of North Carolina is planning for the upcoming Semiquincentennial. Umfleet will also give an overview of the role of North Carolinians in creating “a more perfect Union.” The program will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Beach-themed ‘HoliDAY’
The Museum of Coastal Carolina will hold its “HoliDAY” at the museum, a beach-themed holiday celebration for the family, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24. Participants can complete beach-themed crafts, play with snow at the beach through fun science activities and “White Beard the Pirate Claus” will dock his ship to share pirate booty. While at the museum visitors can stroll through the museum’s fourth annual Festival of Trees display. The Festival of Trees runs through Sunday, Dec. 31. The museum is located at 21 E. Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla
Celebrating its 20th year, the Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla will be held Saturday, Nov. 25. The boat parade starts at 5:30 p.m. in front of Inlet View Bar & Grill and proceeds down the Intracoastal Waterway to the canal in front of Sharky’s and 59 Causeway. There will be raffles and prizes. An awards ceremony will be held immediately following the flotilla. Benefits Brunswick Family Assistance. There will be live music by the FGH Band at Sharky’s.
