Questers travel to Dennison

DENNISON — The De-He-Wa-Mis Questers gathered at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum for an October tour.

The museum, a national historic landmark, is the most significant remaining example of a railroad canteen still reflecting its World War II heritage, according to officials. Approximately 1.3 million service members were served free food by 4,000 volunteers, it was noted. A film revealing the history and restoration of the depot started the visit before viewing the displays in the railroad cars. The featured exhibit, “Celebrating 90 Years: Muskingum Water Conservancy District,” explained the beginning, progress and future of the district. Following lunch at Dennison Yard, President Mary Jane Ighnat conducted a brief business meeting. Linda Kovach gave a report which highlighted September’s visit to Historic Deersville. Plans were discussed to attend the fall conference in Hudson, Ohio.

Hostesses for the meeting were Cyd Roney and Kyle Lucas. The next meeting will be held Nov. 2 and will include a trip to the Belmont County Historical Museum, it was stated.
