When watching celebrity interviews, many people’s eyes are drawn to the long, beautiful fingers. Many are willing to spend a lot of money at beauty parlours to achieve similarly beautiful hands and nails. However, two prominent nail artists say that you can achieve celebrity-like hands and nails from home. They say that pastel colours are currently trending in nail art.
Celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik recently did a manicure for American singer Selena Gomez. Selena’s lavender milk nails captivated fans, leading celebrity nail artists to confirm that purple is the next big spring nail art trend.
Just as strawberry milk and blueberry milk nails previously created a sensation, lavender is also captivating fashion enthusiasts. They say that the lavender colour, perfect for spring, simultaneously gives nails a great look and vibrancy.
“Soft light shades like lavender, mint green, peach, and baby blues are favourites among nail artists. Pastel colours are suitable for floral and French manicures, airy, and give a good vibe,” says celebrity nail artist Elle Gerstein. You can do lavender milk nail art at home. First, choose your favourite shade of lavender polish. Nail artists recommend the Essie nail polish in ‘Go Ginza’ as the closest match to Selena Gomez’s nail look.
Gerstein’s instructions for doing lavender milk nail art at home are as follows: Wash your nails with antibacterial soap. Let them dry, then clean your nails with isopropyl alcohol. This removes dust and debris and gives your nails the correct pH level. Before applying nail polish, remember to use a base coat and a high-gloss top coat afterwards. The colour of the polish will not affect the longevity of your manicure. However, if you feel your lavender polish is fading, you can use a UV top coat to prevent this.
