Diamond, gold, cash: Booty at Bescom engineer’s properties

During searches at a Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) executive engineer’s Bengaluru properties on Tuesday morning, Karnataka Lokayukta officers discovered jewels, gold, antiquities, and other things valued at Rs 1.5 crore and Rs 92.95 lakh in cash.

At least 13 government personnel were the target of simultaneous searches by numerous teams led by the police branch of the anti-corruption ombudsman, which included three operations in Bengaluru.

A report stated that the raids were being conducted in relation to instances involving disproportionate assets.

Investigations into the Jakkur home of executive engineer HD Channakeshava of Bescom resulted in the revelation of a diamond valued at Rs 25 lakh, 28 kg of silver, 3 kg of gold, and antique objects worth Rs 5 lakh in addition to Rs 6 lakh in cash. According to sources, the total raid is likely to have yielded Rs 1.5 crore.

Following additional raids at the Sahakara Nagar home of Tarun, Channakeshava’s brother-in-law, authorities discovered 55 grams of gold and Rs 92,95,460 in cash, mostly in Rs 500 notes.

In addition to Channakeshava, there were raids in Bengaluru on properties owned by HS Krishnamurthy of the Kanminike Milk Producers Co-operative Society in Kumbalgodu and Sudhakar Reddy of EE (Electric), Bescom, KR Circle.
