DJ Khaled is known for his lavish lifestyle and star-studded collaborations. But he is also humble and grateful and never forgets to thank his mentors and friends. One of them is Jay-Z, who has been featured on several of DJ Khaled’s songs, including the recent hit “God Did” with Lil Wayne and Rick Ross.
In a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, DJ Khaled revealed that he texts Jay-Z 100 times a month to thank him for everything he has done for him. He said that Jay-Z is like a big brother to him, very generous and humble, and always responds to his texts with love and respect. DJ Khaled shared the story behind the recording of “God Did,” which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance.
“I thought of bringing Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross together on a song and sending the beat to Jay-Z first. Jay-Z loved the beat and recorded his verse in one take. He then sent the song to Lil Wayne and Rick Ross, who recorded their verses quickly. I was amazed by the chemistry and trust among the artists, and he felt blessed to be part of such a historic collaboration.”
“It was a dream come true for me to share the stage with Jay-Z, who, for me, is the greatest rapper of all time. I was nervous before the performance but Jay-Z calmed him down and gave him confidence. He gave me a pep talk after the performance and felt honored and inspired by his words.”
DJ Khaled is not the only one who appreciates Jay-Z’s influence and friendship. Lil Wayne and Rick Ross also praised Jay-Z for his career role and collaboration on “God Did.” Lil Wayne said that Jay-Z is his idol and that he was honored to work with him. Rick Ross said that Jay-Z is his brother and was grateful for his support and guidance.
DJ Khaled is a man who knows how to show his gratitude and respect to his peers and mentors. He is also a man who knows how to make great music and bring together some of the biggest names in hip-hop. He is a man who lives by his motto: “We the best!”
