Drake & Latto’s New Collab Showcases His Long Support Of Women In Music

Drake and Latto released some new heat, serving as his latest co-sign of a buzzing female artist.

On Tuesday, Drake opened his vault and released 100GB of never-before-seen footage, in addition to three new tracks. One of the tracks, “Housekeeping Knows,” features Latto. On the song, which samples Miami classic Riddin the Stick, Drake seems to take a melodic approach. Latto takes on the rap duties in her signature Southern style and can be seen riding a horse and rapping inside a stable in a clip shared online.  It’s unclear if the song will appear on her upcoming album, “Sugar Honey Iced Tea.”

This exciting single comes months after the Toronto with Sexyy Red for their hit, “U My Everything,” in May.  Drake jumped on the Sexyy train months prior, having featured her on his album October 2023 album, “For All the Dogs.” The pair, along with SZA, teamed up for the club banger “Rich Baby Daddy,” a standout on the project.

While Drake has long worked with female artists within R&B, such as Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Jorja Smith, and Alicia Keys, to name a few, his latest alignment with female rappers may come as a surprise to some.  In the past, Drake primarily championed for Young Money signee Nicki Minaj.  However, in recent years, it appears he has become open to embracing more of his female rap peers.

These co-signs, especially as they pertain to the upcoming acts, are known on social media as the “Drake Stimulus Package.” For fresh artists, they often lead to substantial career boosts.  For instance, his backing of Summer Walker on her single, “Girl Needs Love” remix, helped propel the songstress into superstardom.  His endorsement also transcends musical collaboration, with the OVO founder using his platforms to promote these artists on social media.

It remains to be seen which other women in hip-hop will be working with Drake, though his many past female-led collabs prove that he’s a major supporter of women in all walks of music, new or seasoned.

Here are just a few of our favorite Drizzy features.
