Police in Dublin apprehended a suspected thief on Wednesday after responding to a break-in at Valley Rags and Wigs Shop on San Ramon Road. Responding to an alarm and reports of broken glass, authorities arrived to find the premises secure, despite an attempt to force entry, as detailed by the Dublin Police’ post.
Robert Butler, 44, of San Ramon, was arrested in connection with the incident. He’s alleged to have attempted to burglarize the establishment at around 2:46 a.m., leaving behind pry marks on the door. Despite breaking the glass door, Butler did not gain access to the store.
The investigation linked Butler to two similar November crimes. In one break-in, merchandise worth approximately $2,300 was stolen. On November 30, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Butler, leading to his arrest that evening.
A search of Butler’s home unearthed stolen goods, drugs, and several wigs. These items led to additional charges, including possession of stolen property and narcotics offenses. Butler was booked into Santa Rita Jail but was released on bail shortly thereafter.
