Earthgang, composed of Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot, is an Atlanta, GA duo who steadily redefines the construct of hip-hop music and what should inspire. Their latest project, Earthgang vs. the Algorithm: RIP Human Art, is an ode to the strength of the human artists of our world in contrast to the beast that the algorithm has become within the space of creativity.
The Dreamville artists focus their lyrics on honoring the community that surrounds them and exploring every corner of their individuality with an air of both hip-hop and funk.
Signed to Shady Records in 2017, Westside Boogie uses his music as an open journal for an audience of loyal listeners. The Compton-bred rapper’s Tiny Desk Concert was a glimpse into the flawless interpretation of his life experiences. The honesty behind his words are the bullet points that encourage fans to dig deeper, subsequently listening more.
His second album release under Shady Records, More Black Superheroes, unlocks a secondary level of vulnerability from Westside Boogie and undoubtedly summons a wider audience searching for something fresh in their headphones.
Amine‘ is not a new name within hip-hop. With a New Balance collaboration that recently dropped this past summer, the son of a post office worker and teacher has continued to stretch the musical imagination of his listeners. Born Adam Amine’ Daniel in Portland, Oregon, the rapper worked the 2015 backroom recording of “Caroline” into a Coachella appearance, a debut with the Oregon Symphony and an international tour.
“Caroline” was only the beginning of his cultivation of tricky cadences, lyrics that emote fun and consciousness and an authentic swag that complements his personality exclusively. Amine’s most recent project was a collaborative album where he partnered with Haitian-Canadian producer, Kaytranada. The release included 11 tracks with notable appearances from Snoop Dogg, Amaarae and Pharrell Williams.
Buddy, another triumphant voice in the city of Compton, finds the tone of his music behind the doors of his community. The 30-year old incorporates a reliable versatility throughout his tracklists which introduces a multiverse of themes, from recalling a meeting with a woman at a swap meet to the deformed characteristics of politics in America.
His last album, Superghetto – released in 2022 – was a 10-track masterclass on the skillfulness of smoothly gliding from one musical emphasis to the next. Born Simmie Simms III, Buddy creates music that can provide introspection, clarity and an unmistakable vibe simultaneously.
