As a true blue beauty gworl, I cannot conquer the day without my makeup on. Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t do it without makeup either but something about putting on makeup makes me feel a little more confident. And what is makeup without the ultimate foundation that stays intact all day long? The one thing I actively look for in my foundation is the perfect shade. My only ick is a foundation that changes my skin even a single tone fairer. I’m not here to look fair but just to look glam which means as a brown girl, I need my original skin shade to shine with or without foundation. This can be rather tough to find but I promise you, I’ve found not one but multiple foundations that have just the right shades for us brown girls and they’re long-lasting products. How do I know this? Well, I personally tested each and every product to ensure my girlies have just the products they need.
1. Looking For Something Budget-Friendly?
What is Maybelline if not budget-friendly? The Maybelline Super Stay Matte foundation not only offers a whole range of foundation shades meant for brown women but it has the perfect formula that spreads across your skin and gives you a flawless finish in just one layer. For a long-lasting product, it is surprisingly lightweight. It feels like nothing on your skin while giving you a matte but luminous finish. Who needs an expensive foundation when Maybelline gives you quality like that?
2. Luxe But Light-Weight
Kylie Cosmetics recently made its way to India and guess what? It has more foundation shades for Indian skin tones than Indian brands. Kylie Cosmetics foundation has all the right undertones to go with Indian skin tones and this product does not feel heavy on the skin despite being a medium, buildable foundation. What more can a girl ask for? FYI, this is just what you need if you’re going to be in front of the camera a lot just like me. This foundation gives you a satin airbrushed finish plus it’s vegan. Another plus, it’s not just waterproof and sweatproof but it’s also humidity-proof making it the perfect product for Indian weather, especially for a Mumbaikar like me!

House Of Makeup has just the thing you’re looking for. I swear by this SPF-infused skin tint. First of all, this is a moisturiser, tint and sunscreen in one product. With SPF 25+++, this tint is the ultimate hack to nailing that glass skin look with skin protection. Not only does it feel light on the skin but for a tint, it has amazing coverage that lasts all day and DOES NOT come off (even if you touch your face as much as I do). This tint comes in a small bottle making it the perfect travel makeup product but be careful if you’re squeezing out some tint while in an auto or cab because the chances of squeezing out too much and staining your clothes is a big possibility. The only downside to this product is that it only comes in 8 shades.
4. Your Camera Friendly Glowing Foundation!
e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter literally makes your skin glow just the right amount when facing the camera. I promise you, you’ll want to click a lot of selfies when you put this foundation on. It blends into your skin like it belongs there (it totally does) and even if you end up with a shade which doesn’t exactly match your skin tone, you’ll be able to manage it without trouble. Wondering how? Well, it basically gives your skin a glowing dewy effect which means you can wear it on its own or mix it with your foundation for the ultimate dewy sunkissed selfie look. It’s basically an Instagram filter turned into a makeup product with Squalane and Hyaluronic Acid.

Yes, I did fall asleep with this product on my face at night but that’s not a good habit irrespective of your makeup’s skincare qualities. Infused with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Salicylic Acid, this serum foundation gives you medium to full coverage with SPF 20. But wait, there’s more. It’ll make your skin look raw and absolutely natural. Clinique Serum Foundation is lightweight and has a thin texture so, just a few drops of product are enough for your full face of makeup and skincare. It’s an investment worth making because then you can bid adieu to your concealer. I’m not kidding, no concealer can cover my dark circles the way this foundation can. And no, I did not have to even use a colour corrector. Need I say more?

6. The Ultimate Everyday Foundation
Not only is this foundation from Nykaa a travel-friendly product but it’s also easy to apply and has a long-lasting formula. It’s not as thin and light-weight as the rest but you don’t want to miss out on this product because it helps cover your skin pigmentation like magic. If you think that’s all, you couldn’t be more wrong. Nykaa Matte to Last Pore Minimizing Foundation does its job well by minimizing pores within minutes of application. While it has a thicker formula, it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin which means it deserves some brownie points!
7. Max Coverage On A Budget
This foundation from Max Factor is your secret to saying goodbye to your concealer because it primes your skin, conceals your dark circles and gives you ABSOLUTELY flawless full-coverage with a matte yet radiant finish. And guess what? It’s not lightweight, it’s ultra-lightweight, waterproof, sweat-proof AND touch-proof. So, this one isn’t coming off even after a long day at work, I promise. The best thing about this foundation is that I found it in just the perfect shade (which is practically impossible, for me at least).
8. Tinted Serum To The Rescue!
There’s nothing better than a serum-infused skin tint for daily use. Lakmé CC Tinted Serum is infused with 2% Hyaluronic Acid and comes with a sunscreen filter. It’s basically a medium-coverage foundation with the benefits of a serum. The only downside of this product is that it comes in 4 shades. However, you can always mix and match to create the perfect shade for your skin.
