Elderly man leaving Walmart approached, punched in the face; attacker on the loose

This violent crime was unprovoked and the victim is elderly.

Authorities near Fort Lauderdale want to catch the man who walked into a Walmart store and punched an elderly man, who was leaving, in the face. Twice.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video from the store in Lauderdale Lakes.

Detectives said the attack happened just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The elderly victim was on his way out of the store. He was carrying a shopping bag.

He walked past the first set of sliding doors when the attacker approached him and punched him.

Then, the attacker ran off.

That was it. The attacker turned around and ran away.

Detectives said he didn’t steal anything from the victim. The victim told them he didn’t know the attacker and they didn’t even exchange words before the incident.

Luckily, his injuries are described as minor.

The wanted man is described as tall and thin. He was wearing a navy sweater with gray lettering on the front, along with black pants and flip-flops.
