Eminem‘s longtime collaborator, Dina Rae — perhaps best known for contributing the female vocals on 2003’s “Superman” — has fallen on hard times and has taken to GoFundMe to ask for help.
Rae initially launched the GoFundMe in March, but it recently was brought to mainstream attention thanks to a tweet from an Eminem fan account on Tuesday (September 19). Rae, who has had issues with her spine and her neck for a long time, also said that she tried “alternative treatments” to alleviate the pain, to no avail. As a result, she had corrective surgery at UCLA in Los Angeles earlier this month.

“As I’m sure you know, this is an expensive surgery and during this procedure and after I will be entirely responsible for all associated costs, and unable to work as I recover,” she said. “I am raising money so I can have this procedure, because the fact is, I’ll need some help as I recover and rehabilitate. I’m hoping to cover rent bills and the basic expenses for a few months, I thank you all so much.”
Dina Rae also said that after the surgery, she won’t be able to work for several months. As of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised $1,695 out of the $30,000 goal.
Eminem hasn’t commented on the situation as of time of writing.
Released in 2003 on Eminem’s The Eminem Show, “Superman” was long speculated to be about Em’s rumored torrid affair with Mariah Carey — and was ultimately confirmed by Slim Shady himself in his 2008 autobiography, The Way I Am, to be about the “Emotions” singer.
In 2010, Eminem further revealed that songs like “Superman” addressed his long-standing trust issues, especially with women.

“I have trust issues,” he admitted. “With women, friends, whatever. You always wonder what their real motives are. I’ve got a small circle of friends, and it’s a lot of the same friends I’ve known forever. Right now, that works for me.”
He continued: “I came out of some difficult things these past couple of years. I kind of feel like I’m just now finding my footing. So I want to make sure that’s secure before I go out and do anything else. I need to keep working on myself for a while.”

Meanwhile, Eminem and 50 Cent proved their long-running friendship remains alive and well last weekend when they shared the stage as the former’s Final Lap Tour rolled into Detroit, Michigan.
The G-Unit boss headlined the Pine Knob Music Theatre on Sunday night (September 17), and it was only right that he brought out his close friend and hometown hero, Marshall Mathers, as a surprise guest.

Before departing the stage, Eminem showed love to 50 Cent while saying a few words to the Motor City audience.
“Detroit, make some noise for one of the best friends that I’ve ever known, 50 Cent!” he said. “And also, make some noise for Hip Hop’s 50th birthday, y’all … Detroit, I love y’all, man.”
