Fever’s Post-Olympic Surge Continues, Clark and Mitchell Lead the Charge

A back-and-forth battle between two high-scoring offenses, the Indiana Fever feverishly emerged victorious over the Dallas Wings, securing a 100-93 win.

This victory marks the Fever’s 17th of the season, propelling them to a 17-16 record and firmly placing them in playoff contention.

The Fever’s win over the Wings is particularly significant as it marks the first time since 2016 that the team has held a winning record in August or later. This achievement highlights the team’s impressive turnaround this season, especially considering their 13-21 record in 2019.

The Fever’s success has been largely driven by the dynamic duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, who combined for an impressive 63 points in the game against the Wings. Mitchell, a seven-year veteran, has been a consistent force for the Fever, notching her seventh-straight 20+ point game and extending a franchise record.

While the Fever’s offense has been firing on all cylinders, the Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale proved to be a formidable opponent, scoring 34 points, including 24 in the first half alone. Ogunbowale’s quickness and playmaking abilities made her a difficult matchup for the Fever, but they were able to contain her in the second half, ultimately securing the win.

With their current trajectory, the Fever are poised to make a strong playoff push, and their recent success suggests that they could be a team to watch in the postseason.
