Flo Milli, Tierra Whack and Tems have all been selected alongside a wide range of other female artists who will participate in NPR Tiny Desk Concert series’ celebration of Black Music Month.
According to a statement from NPR, this year’s programming, which kicks off Monday (June 3), will feature an all-woman lineup ranging across genres and generations not only performing in the iconic series, but also being celebrated.

“This Black Music Month, we’re giving the ladies their flowers!,” said host and series producer Bobby Carter in the statement. “We’re releasing nine Tiny Desk concerts from Black women who’ve paved the way for what we hear today in Black music and others who are carving out their own paths. All of them are queens in their own right who represent a beautiful array of genres, generations and walks of life.”
The full lineup also includes Chaka Khan, Kierra Sheard, Lakecia Benjamin, Meshell Ndegeocello, Brittney Spencer, and SWV.

Tiny Desk has been the site of a number of iconic Hip Hop performances over the years, including appearances by Action Bronson, Juvenile, Big Sean, Jeezy and Scarface in the past year alone.
The latter’s set left such an indelible mark on fans across the globe that it inspired the Houston legend to embark on a Tiny Desk-themed tour.
Last year, the Geto Boys MC performed six of his most beloved songs during an appearance on the Tiny Desk Concert series. The performance garnered widespread praise from the Hip Hop community and beyond, and the veteran rapper seems to have taken notice of it.
On February 14, Elliott Wilson announced the Brad “Scarface” Jordan Behind The Desk Experience. The 25-day tour kicked off in Miami, FL on March 10 and ran for a little over a month, with the final show taking place in Charlotte, NC on April 14.

Soon after his Tiny Desk Concert, the 53-year-old spitter revealed that it was important to him for a very specific reason.
“Let me tell you why this Tiny Desk was such a moment for me,” he said soon after the set. “Because Mike Dean actually played the parts in the [original] songs, so he knows the parts. You don’t have to teach him the parts, because those parts came from him.”
